Eliud Kipchoge is a true hero of Berlin after the Kenyan marathon runner broke his record once again this past weekend.

The ever humble Eliud dropped his own record he set 4 years ago on Sunday by a huge 30 seconds to a world best 2:01:09. His feat is an inspiring story for the upcoming generation of Kenyan athletes.

Most sportsmen will draw on his resilience and determination to attain unprecedented heights.

Could there be something about his shoes? Maybe, but the fact is that sports requires discipline.

Story of legendary shoes exists and this does not come as a culture shock. The likes of Jordan's and Lebron's sneakers are among the greatest in sports lore and it seems that the Kenyan-born marathon runner might be join that exclusive club.

Kipchoge's pair of  autographed orange AF%2 runners that he broke the record with will now be displayed at the Nike Run Club in Berlin. 

As the new bright orange take on the Nike Alpha fly 2 was pretty hard to ignore list.

The Nike Air Zoom Alpha fly NEXT% 2 (to give it its full name) has since been seen in a handful of alternate colours, the most recent of which being “Total Orange” earlier this month.

Nike’s Alpha fly 2 is likely to see its popularity increase ten-fold following Kipchoge’s breathtaking performance over the weekend.

Although the debate on which is the best “super shoe” will continue to roll on.
