Standard Media's Strategy and Content Editor Peter Opondo has been fired. The TV boss was dismissed yesterday over what the company termed as 'unsatisfactory performance'.

In a WhatsApp message, Opondo told his colleagues, "Some personal news. My short stint with Standard Media Group has come to an end today. The company has terminated my contract effective immediately."

Adding

"Sometimes we don't always see things the same way and some things are just meant to be. So I wish all of you well as you continue with the transformation journey."

Before joining KTN, Opondo worked for K24. He has also held various roles at Citizen TV including Ag. Editorial Director and NTV Uganda.

Opondo resigned from K24 TV (Mediamax Network Limited) where he was the Group Head of TV and Digital.

His resignation came a couple of weeks before Mediamax sent 90% of the K24 newsroom team home in a redundancy exercise.
