The King of #BeardGang has done it. The Raverend, The Turn Up King...Shaffie Weru has gone and broken a Guinness World Record.

Kiss FM breakfast show co-host Shaffie has achieved the meanest feat in the whole world by breaking a Guinness World Record.

This happened on Thursday afternoon at Kenyatta University where, Shaffie together with other team #BeardGang enthusiasts showed up in large numbers to not only "attempt" to break the world record, but blow the record way out of the water.

The record breaking of people shaving at the same time at the same place on June 29th 2017  is part of Gillette consumer education campaign dubbed “Nyoa Ki-Pro” meant to educate male consumers aged between 15 – 24 years on correct ways of shaving.

"We clocked just above 2900 people shaving," Shaffie said, "I look clean, I look like a baby, I have a long face and random girls want to kiss my smooth shaven face courtesy of Gillette."

The records read 3,000 people aged between 18 and 45 participated in the attempt to have Kenyans overtake the current record of 2,374 people that was set in Mexico in 2015.

"Mexico are the guys and someone can tell Mexico they can send the title with the next maize shipment because Kenya is the new Elchapo...their two year stint is over!!!"

The fruits of the record breaking stint will be rewarded with recognition in the Guinness Book Of World Records after the organizers send photos and video evidence of the event to auditors, who will then confirm if the participants managed to break the record.

Shaffie said, "In a week we will get our confirmation and certificate for breaking the record."

Some of the celebrities who were part of the momentous record breaking occasion was  "Kagwe Mungai aka Barber Yao, Pascal Tukodi of Kaka Empire, Blinky Bill and Kristoff joined me in the challenge," Shaffie said.

Shaffie says they also invited the Sultan Hassan Joho, politician and businessman

Reflecting on shaving his trademark beard, Shaffie added,

"My beard is precious, So it was not about 'if' or 'how' I decided to take up the challenge because it was going to happen. There was never a thought of going mkate nusu with the current title holders [Mexico having 2,374 people in their challenge] loosing was never an option.
