Gospel minister Lady Bee who rose to fame in the early 2000s shocked everyone when she converted to gospel from the secular world. This was at the peak of her career.

In an interview with MC Jessy, Lady Bee narrates how she got into salvation and performing as a secular artiste in church while still heavily hooked on drugs.

The artiste who started her career as part of a band a well known Congolese band by the name Bilenge Musiqa recalls on her journey to salvation.

Lady Bee describes her past life as messed up as she was heavily into drugs.

The singer would not go a day without puffing bhang as she had become an addict, more to that she also chewed khat with her friends.

The former genge star described her addiction where she could not skip a day without using bhang and would even talk to the security personnel at an event no matter how important or fancy it was in order to secure herself a place to puff marijuana to calm her down.

Her journey to conversion wasn’t your usual cup of tea where people get prayed on and the holy spirit works on them and they instantly leave the secular world.

For Lady B, it took her a while to finally get to the point she is right now.

As a top secular artist in the county at the time, church was the last place she would think of going.

She described herself as a crook from childhood as she wanted to explore the world on her own.

A girl who was part of their band as a dancer frequently invited Lady Bee to her church in spite of her being heavily into the secular world.

At times the mother of one would accept her invitations as she wasn’t interested in church and had a different perspective and view about churches.

Lady Bee’s life took a different turn on one occasion. This would mark the beginning of a different life she wasn’t used to.

On one occasion, her friend as usual invited her to accompany her to church on the 31st of December. This was the first time the artist was actually fully sober and she felt quite weird.

Lady Bee was reluctant to go but after the lady insisted severally she finally gave in.

Her girlfriend also wrote her name in the list of those who would sing in the church.

For Lady Bee this was one of the hardest things to do, though a musician she couldn’t imagine herself performing a gospel song in front of the church.

She did not buy the idea of singing a song and her friend came up with an idea of her singing her favorite song by Angela Chibalonza.

That was the day her journey towards Christ began.

After the church scenario, the artiste went back to her normal life of smoking weed and chewing khat and still doing music and her career was at a peak.

Then, her usual church friend informed her that she was requested to present herself in church by the pastor.

For her there were a lot of questions lingering on her mind on what she could have done to annoy the pastor or what he really wanted.

The pastor’s wife had in previous days dreamt of Lady Bee and was disturbed to the point where she requested to have a meeting with her.

Lady Bee then made her way to the church and was warmly welcomed.

The pastor then ushered her to his wife who was once a popular Congolese musician singing with the likes of the legendary M’bilia Bel.

She narrated her story to her which Lady Bee would relate to as it was similar to hers.

As they talked Lady Bee was confused and all her life flashed right before her eyes and it was there when she was asked if she would like to get saved she accepted not knowing the weight or the meaning of salvation and being born again.

Lady Bee spent the last four months in church as her actions were being observed. Her fellow artists did not know of her whereabouts.

While she was in church she was able to conquer her addiction and live a clean drug free life without going to rehabilitation till date.
