Dennis Onsarigo has signed a new deal with Taita Taveta county. He has now been appointed the communications director.

On his social media, he gave a hint that he was going to the next level of his career but didn't necessarily mention what he was tasked to do.

"10kms in 👊⭐️. Read. Run. Rest Before we move on to the next big assignment in the next few days!..."

It takes strong leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, a person of high integrity, a clear understanding of National Development Goals, Policies and Programmes, vision 2030, professional and managerial competence to be tasked to have a position such as this one.

Nine months ago, Onsarigo survived an accident when he was almost hit by a truck as he rode his bike. He underwent a six-hour surgery.

He wrote:

"Man down: I went riding a bike 🚲 on Saturday.. I had done 23Kms one way when a truck left the main road on to my path wanting to overlap

I decide i will not let it outdo me, a blanket of dust while atop a bike is the least I wanted. I step on the peddle, look over my shoulder and the truck has now increased its speed; step on the pedal again and the truck driver impatient now honks... glancing back for a third time ...The truck is literally inches of “breathing” distance away from me.. I turn my head before I can leave the bicycle path, I lose control of the beast.. pushed over by lack of balance, I land head first - thank God I had a helmet- then on my shoulder; the landing force tosses me just a yard from the truck

Screams from other motorists, slamming on the brakes and now lost in dust, I can only hear my breathing.. I try lifting myself up, I can’t. A sharp pain on my collar bone tells me I have fractured something.

Long story short, I survived a truck crashing me.. it was a touching distance from where I lay.

Flashback: previous night a colleague had told me not to go riding after I told them I wasn’t sure about riding on that road. That morning, I bought a new helmet and said a prayer ,something I rarely do when going biking.

As I was wheeled into the operating room for a six hour surgery, it hit me; life is short .. when the surgeons dimmed the lights on, I had died for six hours... what if I never returned?

Lucky to be alive and I guess it is time I figured out what this accident means."

Dennis is well known for his investigative pieces on KTN and his memorable news segment dubbed Case Files.

But does this automatically mean he will be leaving the Mombasa-road based media house?

Well, his new position comes days after royal media poached journalists from both Nation media and Standard media group.
