Murder investigators have revealed that Police Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei was murdered in the most brutal of ways.

Speaking to People Daily, a detective said, "This was pure murder."

Kenei’s decomposing body was discovered in his house at Villa Franca Estate, Imara Daima.

This was on February 20, after a neighbor alerted police of a foul smell.

Now, the police investigating the murder claim that three men have been fingered for the crime.

Two days before he was killed, three men were spotted around his house.

This is also the same day that Kenei's wife and father received cash from him.

The three men who are yet to be identified also deactivated Kenei's social media accounts and also flushed his phone to cover up their activities on the device.

Kenei, who until his untimely demise, worked at deputy president William Ruto’s office was said to be one of the key witnesses in the Ksh39 billion fake firearms scandal involving ex-sports CS Rashid Echesa.

However, detectives have recovered part of the data which is being used in the investigations.

A senior detective told People Daily that they have cracked the case which they believe was pure murder.

"At last we have cracked the case," a senior detective said.
