A matatu belonging to Ummoinner Sacco that plies Umoja and Inner core route was last night torched by angry residents.

The irate mob burnt the matatu after it knocked down a pedestrian at Donholm estate on Wednesday 7 pm.

The driver of the matatu escaped after the incident after noticing the crowd was turning violent and is being sought.

Police say the driver was overlapping when he hit and seriously injured a pedestrian. A mob gathered there and burnt down the matatu after other passengers had disembarked.

Nairobi Dci chief Ireri Kamwende said police are hunting for the arsonists.
