In an interview with the Sunday Nation, Mwangi revealed that he is currently sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) exams as a private candidate.

He was expelled from high school more than 18 years ago while in Form One. This is when he decided to quit school and started pursuing his personal interests.

After a lot of self persuasion, Mwangi decided to enroll himself at Visionary Tution Center in South B, Nairobi - where he is sitting for the ongoing KCSE exams.

The activist claims that his children have been laughing at him because he has to wake up very early in the morning and sleep late so that he can study for the exams.

He has however expressed fear that he may not pass as well as he expected and he might resit the examinations if he fails.

Mwangi said that his fierce court battle with a prominent Kenyan politician has left him with very little time to prepare reason being he has to help his lawyer to do research.

Just like most candidates, Mwangi revealed that his children bought him a success card to wish him the best in the exams.
