Wiper leader  Kalonzo Musyoka move to  join embattled and suspended Lands  Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu in court in a show of solidarity has elicited sharp reactions within political circles.

Kalonzo and Ngilu have for years been political adversaries in the battle for supremacy in Ukambani and the former VP's move to rally behind her is being viewed with suspicion.

"Kalonzo is an opportunistic politician and has  never spared a moment in the past to sink Ngilu's fortunes," said a source close to the CS.

Indeed,  other sources intimate that Ngilu was being sacrificed so that Kalonzo can join the Jubilee government as the Chief Secretary. Last month the media was awash with reports that Kalonzo has secretly sealed a deal with the Jubilee Government to join its ranks together with his allies leaving Cord leader Raila Odinga high and dry.

One of Kalonzo’s strategist in Wiper and who is also the Kitui County Senator David Musila allegedly , led a delegation to State House in a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta and whose main agenda was to “seal” the deal for Kalonzo.

Yesterday, analysts expressed  reservations over Kalonzo's  move to stand by Ngilu yet he has always projected himself as a "Mr  Clean " and a man who stands for integrity and abhors corruption.

"It is shocking that Kalonzo is now showing solidarity with someone who is accused of corruption. He is behaving like a person who attends enemies' funeral not to mourn but to establish that the enemy is actually dead," says a Wiper MP  from  Kitui, who declined to be named.

A tactful master of deceit and political flip-flopping, Kalonzo’s move to abandon Raila and work with the  government has badly exposed him as an unreliable leader who aptly fits the tag of a political “water melon”. Among the sweeteners in the deal is that Kalonzo agrees to drop the scandal-tainted Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama from his inner circle and had Musila nominated as a Cabinet Secretary.

Muthama is in court over the Malili land scam and has also been implicated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission in the looting of Sh 57 million for rural access roads funds  in the year 2012 when he was the  Kangundo MP.

Muthama has also been on the spot over his vile attacks on Uhuru, persistent hate mongering  and is perceived as a  Raila's political  attack dog in Ukambani
