Minnie Kariuki, who plays Mariah in the hit series Single Kiasi has explained her inspiration to play the role that she currently has on the show.

She plays the role of a woman who enjoys a high life in the city by dating sponsors.

Speaking during a forum by Maisha Magic dubbed ‘Maisha Mapenzi’, she said the role she plays and the person she is is in real life are totally different.

"My craft is that I am an actor and that is what I do for a living. You can only inspire people, your fans and even the younger upcoming artists through your success," she said.

"My role on the show Single Kiasi and who I am as a person are very different. I have had to deal with some very painful and deep experiences in my past life to be able to play the roles that I have featured on. "

Minnie said that looking back and having to recover from those experiences have helped her authentically bring out some of the best scenes where she has been cast.

"My husband is also very understanding of what I do for a living and truthfully speaking, he has also benefited from it...if you know what I mean!”

Minne Kariuki and Charles Muigai aka Lugz Kenya held their traditional wedding (ruracio) ceremony on December 11, 2021.

Single Kiasi is rated 18 and has been reviewed as a Kenyan show that has managed to boldly portray the sexual experiences of women in Nairobi and is aired on Showmax.

Minnie's character story is about freedom and identity, and what it means to reclaim one's womanhood as a person who has only ever been defined by motherhood.
