Oviemuno Oriero aka Muno is one of the trending musicians in Africa at the moment. The Nigerian singer was recently interviewed by Mpasho and had some interesting things to say about his career so far.

The interview is below:

What aspect of being a church kid helped inspire his music journey?

I will say I was one of the chosen ones from that environment. My mom was a choir director, my dad played guitar while my uncles were instrumentalists so it sort of came easily to me. The gift sort of soaked into my spirit.

How was he growing his brand?

Since its inception music has always been a global affair. So the question is how do I place myself? It is at the end competition with the self. I want to be a better version of myself, something that will propel me

What does it feel like to have Kenyan fans.

I am glad that I have Kenyan fans, something that I am surprised about.

How has it been working with P-Square?

I first worked with Rudeboy... They are geniuses. Their work ethic is good and the experience really rubbed off on me.

What has been the highlight of his music journey so far?

They are many. But my performance at Congo with Rudeboy entertainment was really something for me.

Challenges he has faced?

Been underrated. The industry can frustrate upcoming artistes. I have also faced rejection.

Is R&B dead the way pundits have been saying?

I don't really like calling myself an R&B artiste. I will say my style is afro-po/r&B. You can't say R&B is dead as music is fluid and ever-evolving with a lot of it being infused at different times in different genres.

What would you like your legacy to be?

I want my personal story to inspire the next generation. A legacy of fighting to the end, patience and being true to myself.

When was he planning to have a concert in Kenya?

Now that I know I have Kenyan fans, trust me that I will work on doing a concert in the first quarter of 2022.

His advice for upcon artistes?

First of I hate the term, 'upcoming artiste' cause they have just not been heard. Believe in yourself, and know that you can be the next being thing. Always try to make your music international. Be true to yourself with your sound. You can only be a better version of yourself and no one else.
