Singer Paul Nunda alias Jua Cali has shared his relationship with Nonini, who was once a member of his record label - Calif.

For years, there have been speculations that Nonini left Calif records after fallout with Jua Cali and Clemo.

Speaking to Mpasho, Jua Cali said that is not the case.

"Nonini left Calif in 2003... it was not a prison. He felt like taking another direction and he left. We have no beef, it is just that we can not work together, so people think we are enemies," Jua Cali said.

Having been in the music industry for 21 years, Jua Cali says he is not a proud person.

"To me, music is a talent I was given by God. So I don't know how to boast. The only way I can thank God is by being humble."

The Genge singer recalls how he started Calif records alongside his longtime friend Clemo.

"We started Calif records right after high school, I was with Clemo. We discovered Mejja around 2008, we welcomed him at Califf, helped him. He was talented and now he is a big artist on his own. We are very proud of him, we saw his talent and uniqueness," Jua Cali shared.

"My first song was called Ruka, it was released in 2001. Just a year after opening our studio, it was a song to big up my hood."

The singer credits his success in music to the support he received from his parents.

"Without the support of our parents... we couldn't have made it. We got their blessings. Clemo's parents allowed us to use their living room as the studio. They encouraged us to pursue our dreams because they knew white-collar jobs will be scarce in the future," he said.
