The rains are still with us and there’s a good reason to be indoors catching up with your favorite shows every evening. For those who love , season 1 - 8 is currently available for streaming on Showmax. Yaay!

Ok, obviously, there are a number of Kenyans who are not fans. (Yeah, I know ...life must really be boring for them at the moment with all these “unbearable” Thronies taking over every conversation, both online and offline.) Not to worry because   is back with a bang, right?

And if you are looking for more local flavour, these award-winning Kenyan films are all streaming on .

1. Supa Modo

This is Kenya’s first ever superhero film. packs an emotional punch with the heart-warming tale of nine-year-old Jo, a terminally ill but vibrant girl with dreams of becoming a superhero who can fly. When Jo is discharged from the hospital to spend her remaining days at home, her headstrong sister and the whole village come together to make her dreams come true and turn her into the superhero she’s always wanted to be.

Trust me, there won’t be a dry eye in the house after you watch this movie.

Perhaps the most awarded Kenyan film ever, Supa Modo has won over 50 international awards including Best New Director (for Likarion Wainaina) at the Cape Town Film Festival, the Artistic Bravery Prize at the Durban International Film Festival 2018 and Best Screenplay at the Carthage Film Festival.

2. From a Whisper

Denis Maina’s eye-opening documentary film sheds more light on the rampant prostitution at the Kenyan coast by telling the stories of the commercial sex workers who are involved in the trade – what led them to that life, the major players calling the shots and what the girls go through as they try to please their masters.

The Flesh Business won Best Documentary at the 2018 AMVCAs, making it the first documentary from Kenya to ever win in that category.
