AFC leopards is arguably the best supported team in east Africa, at least according to the clubs fan magazine the Ingwe Fan. And with 12 premier league titles, 9 cup titles and 5 regional titles, the felines or Ingwe as it’s popularly known is definitely the most successful club in the region. Established in 1964, the club celebrated her 50th anniversary this year. But a poor start to this year’s season was nothing to smile about and  again locked the sleeping giants out of next year’s continental competitions hence tainting the jubilee celebrations. AFC ended the league trophy-less despite having purchased the best and most expensive players in the Kenyan Premier League.

Erick Masika aka PPO who moved to leopards as a record transfer of Kshs.450,000 from rival club Gor Mahia was a key player in Leopards defensive formation scoring some crucial goals for the club was the first one to be shown the door.Other players to be shown the door were: Charles Okwemba popularly known as prophet who has saved the team especially when the team was trailing, Oscar Kadenge the son of the Harambee Stars legend Joe Kadenge, Patrick Matasi the naive goalkeeper, Khalid Jumaan the best dressed Kenyan Premier League footballer, Augustine Etemesi and Kenneth Wendo flop of the year.

A statement from the club said that they will not be renewing contracts with several players because they need to bring in new blood to improve the squad. Leopards are expected to resume training this week.
