A thyroidectomy is an operation that involves the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland. She shared news about the surgery with her followers and she wrote;

I kept details of my Thyroidectomy low key until I knew I was out of danger. I thank God for faith that reassured me that my work is not yet complete. I remain eager to learn and serve Him with humility. I thank my good friend Martha Karua, Wavinya Ndeti, Mama Rachael and Hon. Patrick Muiruri, Florence Machio and all my staff and friends who got wind and came to visit. Thank you CS Amb Amina Mohammed for your prayers and your compassion.

The thyroid gland is a large ductless gland in the neck which secretes hormones regulating growth and development through the rate of metabolism. General, Endocrine or Head and Neck Surgeons often perform a thyroidectomy when a patient has thyroid cancer or goiter.

In two videos she posted on her social media accounts, Passaris revealed that she had goiter for 10 years and that she chokes at times sometimes. She added that she even finds it hard to maintain her steady breath. After the surgery, she was instructed not to talk so much by her doctor so as to allow the wound to heal.

Passaris urged Kenyans to have confidence in local medical practitioners as they too do a good job just like those in India and other countries, where many travel for treatment.
