Geoffrey Machabe has been trending recently after a video surfaced showing rapper Stevo Simple Boy allegedly building him a house in Kisii.

Machabe, a gospel artist and taxi driver in Nairobi, had offered Simple Boy shelter for several months after the rapper parted ways with his former manager, Chingi Boy Mstado.

Stevo stayed with Machabe for about two months while going through financial difficulties. Now, Simple Boy is reportedly building a house for Machabe, who has just been signed as a new artist.

Humble Beginnings: Raised in Poverty

Machabe was raised in poverty by his single mother. After finishing high school, he moved to Nairobi in 2016 to attend Zetech University, planning to stay with an aunt who lived in Kasarani.

However, his stay was short-lived as his aunt eventually threw him out, leaving him homeless.

Struggles of Homelessness: Life at Uhuru Park

In an interview with Tuko, Machabe shared his difficult experience: "One day when I was coming home from school, I found my bag outside the house.

She had told the neighbors to let me know I had to leave and go back to where I came from. It was raining, and I was so hungry because I only ate in the evening. I had trekked from school and was exhausted."

With nowhere to go, Machabe found himself at Uhuru Park, where he encountered street children. "On my first night with them, they roughed me up, took my bag and clothes.

But I became friends with them because I had no other place to go apart from Uhuru Park. They would steal fruits and other food and share some with me. That’s how I survived for two weeks," he explained.

Turning Point: From Security Guard to Gospel Artist

Machabe later secured a job as a security guard, which helped him cover his basic needs. However, after losing the job, he faced more challenges.

Eventually, he found his way into the ministry, where he underwent a personal transformation and dedicated his life to gospel music.
