Budalangi Mp Raphael Wanjala has opened up about his family life, and why he practices polygamy.
He admitted in an interview that he plans to expand the number of wives he has.
Currently he has two wives and nine children.
Speaking to TV47 Kenya for the 'Mfahamu Kiongozi' segment, Wanjala showed his expansive homestead where two gigantic homes have been built.
"I have two wives, polygamous yes, so when you are building, unahakikisha kila kitu inafanana. So you see those two homes are similar, even if you enter inside, they are the same."
Showing his love for big homes, the legislator explained what informed his decision "This house has 3 sitting rooms, unajua hata biblia inasema ni kama unataka kuoa wanawake wawili, ama zaidi, lazima uhakikishe unawa fanya vitu equally"
He takes this very seriously to also avoid feelings of jealousy among the women
"Ndio hakuna mwingine ana piga kelele. Na pia kwa culture ya wa Luhyia, ukiingia kwa boma vile umeingia, ile nyumba inakuwa straight imeangalia gate, hiyo ni ya bibi wa kwanza."
He also shared that the second wives house was also strategically placed on the left
"Alafu kama unaona kwa right huyo ni wa tatu. Sasa nikileta wa tatu nitaweka hapa. Si mimi ni mwanaume, sijafikisha wa nne." he declared his intentions.
He was asked how he balances the needs of all wives.
"When you are with one, you focus on that one. When you are with the other, you focus on that one. Kama iko kelele hapa, usibebe kelele pale. Boma ni lako, huwezi kaa kwasababu umeamka kwa hii nyumba alafu utakaa tuu. Lazima utatembea kwa boma yako, uangalie"
The first wife has six children. The second has born 3. "Lakini mwanaume hawezi kosa watoto wengine. Si kupanga inje, wanakuja wanakaa wanajuana. Wote wanagrow pamoja, Ule umepata inje unaleta kwa boma. Hapa ndio kwao"
