Singer Mejja dealt with lack of confidence for many years over body shaming.

He opened up to Kameme Fm presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba where he called for sensitization about shaming in all forms.

He recalled always being big in his childhood, something that his peers ridiculed him about

"I have always been heavy. My self-esteem was really low. Zamani nilikuwa na grow up na mchongowano, so I used to be mocked alot for my weight, So you would find when my boys would go katia ma dame, vile mi sikuwa na hiyo courage so nilikuwa mtu kujiekea, "

This even saw him shy off from displaying his musical talent at an early age.

"hata vile wasanii wengine husemaga nilikuwa naimba shule, mimi hakuna classmate wangu yeyote, alikuwa najua mi naimbaga. Walijulia kwa TV. I didn't even have the courage to tell anyone I could rap. Nilikuwa tu msee wa kunymaza."

He even shied away from school competitions because of his weight

"alafu pia I didn't dress well. I understand my mother couldn't afford nice clothes Ni vile angeweza. Pia naelewa. But it didn't give me inspirations to sing, so I was poorly dressed, I was heavy, nilikuwa mbigi, alafu sasa I loved my mum I understood her, I did not judge her because she could not afford good clothes. "

His mum used to sleep hungry to feed them.

He came out his shell in High School.

His confidence began when he entered high school. at Naromoru Boys High.

"That is where I developed character. The body shaming didn't stop, but it got to a point I gained confidence. I dont know from where, ilicome tu. I would hit back at anyone who body shamed me, Ati oh kitambi nini? Mi nitakurushia moja unede home. He called for courses in counselling and psychology in schools to prepare students to handle such insecurities." he urged.
