The body of Evans Kiratu who was the second victim to die during the RejectFinanceBill protests has been laid to rest in Kaimbu today.

Evans, 21, died after succumbing to an injury from a teargas canister that hit his body near the groin.

While viewing his body Friday, June 28, Evans's mother cried desperately .

Evans was shot on Thursday, June 20, in a protest where Kenyans were voicing concerns over the controversial Finance Bill 2024.

His mother Ann Wanjiru said she was informed by a good Samaritan on June 22, that her son had been injured. She rushed to hospital only to find he had died.

"He died after that canister exploded. I have identified my son's body. I want the Government to explain to me if we elected them to kill our children. " saying she had hopes and dreams for her son.

Evans was taken to KNH, by a bystander who found him injured and unable to walk on he sidewalk.

That individual later tagged Boniface Mwangi who eventually found Evans mother.

Human rights activist Hussein Khalid has been updating Kenyans on the postmortems that are being conducted at City Mortuary as families search and identify their loved ones.

"Presently at City Mortuary. Ensured postmortem for 5 mashujaas killed in the protests has started. The 5 are:

  1. Shujaa Ericson Kyalo Musembi
  2. Shujaa David Chege
  3. Shujaa Beasley Kogi
  4. Shujaa Kelvin Mawasi
  5. Shujaa Matthew Njoroge.  Next we proceed to Shujaa Ibrahim's burial"
