There's online speculation suggesting that TikTok wants to expand its offerings beyond video content. According to Techround, it was reported that TikTok was in the works to launch TikTok Notes, a new photo-sharing platform.

This move will put them directly in competition with the long-standing photo-sharing leader, Instagram. However, this is not a new direction in social media and tech spaces.

Last year, Instagram expanded its ways to compete with the long-established social media platform, now known as X.

Their Threads app also caused significant upheaval, with the past year seeing its own disruptions.

TikTok Notes is TikTok's recent innovation, which could be an entirely different app designed for photo posts only.

This new platform would showcase existing and future public photo posts shared on TikTok, expanding their influence in the still image world.

TikTokers received a notification within the app stating that "TikTok Notes is set to change the way we share and engage with photos online."

The launch of TikTok Notes is expected to encourage more photo sharing, with the app automatically incorporating existing and future public photo posts from TikTok.

Users will have the option to opt out of this publishing feature separately, to maintain their right to control the appearance of their content.
