O.J. Simpson, a figure widely recognized as one of the most notorious Americans in history, has passed away following a battle with cancer.

The former NFL star, famously tried for the double-murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in the '90s, only to be acquitted, died on Wednesday in Las Vegas, as confirmed by his family.

Reportedly, O.J. had been fighting prostate cancer in recent years, and his health had deteriorated significantly, leading to his hospice care in the past few months.

Rumours about O.J.'s cancer diagnosis initially surfaced in February through a local outlet, although the details remained unclear. At the time, he denied being in hospice but did not directly address the cancer report.

Adding to the intrigue was a video O.J. posted on X in 2023, where he hinted at a cancer diagnosis, claiming to have "caught" some form of cancer but suggesting he had overcome it. Nonetheless, the cancer resurfaced and claimed his life about a year later.

In the lead-up to his passing, O.J. appeared frail, notably during an outing in January when he was seen using a cane.

His last post featured a video discussing Super Bowl LVIII, where he expressed support for his former team, the San Francisco 49ers, exuding positivity while seated in a backyard. He seemed to be in good spirits then.
