Brian Chira's death recognized in Senate

Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei on Tuesday conveyed his condolences to Brian Chira's family as the TikTok entertainer was laid to rest at his grandmother's home in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

The UDA Senator had just finished supporting a bill in the Senate when Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang' took the floor to mourn the 23-year-old's death and offer solace to his family.

"Mr. Speaker, amidst these many sentiments, I want to support this bill and also assure Kenyans that we will do everything necessary to allow this nation to progress. I also want to send my condolences, Mr. Speaker, to a famous TikToker who was being buried today in Kiambu, Brian Chira. We console the family and friends," Senator Cherargei said in the Senate.

The politician continued to advise youth to be careful and mindful of their lives, urging them to avoid getting involved in risky activities.

"I urge the youth to take responsibility in their lives and to be cautious. Especially when you go out to enjoy yourselves in the cities and towns," he said.

The Senator made these remarks as the deceased content creator was being buried in Githunguri, Kiambu County. The body of the deceased was taken to Kenyatta University Mortuary on Tuesday morning.

Fans, family, and friends viewed the TikToker's body at the mortuary. Mourners proceeded to Kiambu County for the funeral, attended by fellow TikTokers, celebrities, and online media outlets.

Among the notable figures present at the burial were Otile Brown, who performed his popular song 'One Call,' and politician Peter Salasya.

Addressing the mourners, Otile said, "I just want to say thank you for allowing me to be with you here. I didn't know Chira, but through my song 'One Call,' I've seen his love."

Chira passed away on Saturday morning, March 16, 2024. Chira was the son of the late Sofia Wambui Chira, grandson of Esther Njeri, and nephew of Regina Njoki Chira and the late Alice Njoki Chira.

He was a cousin to Ian Mureithi, Ryan Chira, Stacy Chira, and Sofia Njeri.
