A day after the faces and names of the 11 Kenyatta University students who died in a road accident were made public, a father has revealed his devastation.

The memorial service was held at the Kenyatta University Graduation Square Grounds on Sunday, March 24.

Among those present at the memorial is the father of Oslo Mwenda.

The man moved the mourners to tears after revealing Oslo was the second daughter he had lost to a road accident.

He lost another daughter in 2023 to a road accident along Kiambu Road.

His daughter Oslo Mwenda was among the 11 who died in the bus tragedy on March 18.

"One year ago, one month, probably a few hours, I stood before a congregation like this one at Ridgeways Baptist Church, Kiambu Road, to mourn the passing of my daughter, Michelle, through a tragic road accident on Kiambu Road. On that day, Oslo stood beside me as the only beacon of hope. Today, the brother stands beside me as we pay tribute to Oslo," he remarked.

In a video on Nation's Twitter account, the father paid tribute to his daughters.

"Our hearts are full of pain and grief as we try to come to terms with your sudden death, Oslo. It's really hard to accept that your life journey on earth has ended. To think we'll never talk with you again, that we'll not have our day-to-day conversations, is too much. What are we to do now? We're completely shattered. You've too soon. You still have so much more to do," he added.

The First Lady extended her deepest condolences to KU Community and donated Sh2 million from the President.

The students were among a group of 58 who were heading to Mombasa for an academic trip when one of their school buses collided with a trailer at Maungu in Voi.

The university said it is raising funds to offset medical bills and funeral services among other expenses.

The bodies were transported to Kenyatta University Hospital Morgue where they are preserved awaiting burial processes.

First Lady Rachel Ruto was among the mourners held by Kenyatta University.
