The Kenyan government has donated Sh10 million to the families of the late Kelvin Kiptum and his coach Hakizimana's widows.
The families represented by Kiptum's father Samson Cheruiyot, Kiptum's widow Assenath, and Hakizimana's widow Jelimo thanked the government in unison for the support extended to them.
Kiptum was also inducted into the Talanta Hall of Fame.
Ababu Namwamba, The Min. of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports described the Induction of Kiptum as a bittersweet moment.
"This is both a proud and sad moment as we celebrate the induction of a promising athlete who departed this world in his prime," Namwamba said.
He further added;
"This is Special because it is the very first formal induction, and Kelvin becomes the first of our legends to be formally inducted in this hall of fame and stands here as a permanent heritage to his incredible contribution."
This hall celebrates the best of Kenya's sports and creatives such as Joe Kadenge, Paul Tergat, and Ngugi wa Thiongo.
