A Kenyan doctor's tweet about giving priority to unborn male babies during a Cesarean Section in the event of a twin pregnancy has landed him the wrath of Kenyans online.

The doctor identified as Mbiti Mwondi on his Twitter wrote that during a CS for an unnamed mother-to-be, he prioritized delivering the male baby first before the girl in the case of twin birth.

He said his medical decision was because wanted the boy to be the elder of the two.

His admission that he extracted the boy first was met with fierce opposition by netizens.

"A few minutes ago 2:00 am in theatre via CS, I just extracted the most beautiful twins I have ever seen; a boy and a girl. I intentionally extracted the baby boy first so that he'd be called the elder one of the two. Boy child for boy child. Couldn't help but ask the mum to consent..." he tweeted, while attaching a photo of the newborn twins, whose faces he covered up.

He has since deleted the tweet but has reposted the reactions to his comment.

Kenyans responded swiftly with outrage calling for his license to be revoked.

@Asamoh_r: Imagine a gynecologist who prefers to pull out a male newborn instead of a female one and prides himself as a medical professional. @mbiti_mwondi that tweet should be deleted immediately. It’s unprofessional for you to allow your personal preferences to outweigh the ethics

The Medic slammed the Twitter user

" I love being held accountable, now weka space tuongee.Wacha kutype whining all over. I’d love to hear what you really have to say and perhaps teach me one or two if you actually can."

Mbiti responded to more comments, chiding Kenyans about it."KMPDU can't hire or fire me. nitaenda tu Somalia and treat people pro bono coz that's what I do anyways where we don't have this woke sh**" he retaliated.

Meanwhile, doctors have issued a seven-day strike notice beginning next week on Monday.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) on Monday staged a peaceful demonstration in Nairobi, protesting among other things the shooting of their Secretary General Davji Atellah by police during a similar demonstration in Nairobi last week. The medics were pushing for the posting of medical interns by the government on Thursday when Atellah was struck by a teargas canister. On Monday, March 4, medics reminded Health CS Susan Nakhumicha to employ the interns, saying the delay in posting them has affected services in public hospitals nationwide.
