A hospitalized Mr Ibu spoke passionately to his fans about accepting death moments before passing on March 2, 2024.

His family has shared a video of the late actor

"Everything happens exactly in God's own time" his heartbreaking comment revealed his state of mind."when the time comes, it has come" he shared.

Here is a timeline of his illness.

On October 17, 2023, Mr Ibu appeared online with a swollen body, appealing for financial help and prayers as well.

He was celebrating his 62nd birthday in a hospital bed.

He was bedridden and feared amputation of his leg.

In the video, the actor was wearing a hospital gown, in pain and discomfort over his leg. His family was singing him a birthday song.The bedridden actor said a short prayer, before cutting his birthday cake.

His wife and daughter then revealed he had been hospitalized for the last two weeks at a private medical facility in Lagos.

On October 18, he appealed for help to offset his bill. a day after his 62 birthday, the actor disclosed he had been ailing for weeks, with doctors recommending the amputation of his leg to save his life.

This scared him

"If they cut off my leg, where will I go to? I don't want my leg to be cut off," he said.

His financial appeal was to cater for a flight abroad to a better health facility. His on-and-off sickness was frustrating. On October 31st, he underwent 5 surgeries.

The family was hopeful they could transfer him to a hospital abroad.Nov 6, 2023.One of his legs is amputated.

Doctors had done two additional surgeries bringing it to seven. December 16, 2023The family came out to clarify his health condition after rumors he had amputated both legs.

Mr. Ibu's family noted that he was suffering from

"Constant clotting of the blood in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges," not diabetes as rumored.Nothing else was heard from Mr Ibu nor his family about his health until March 2 when his death was announced.
