Comedian Mwalimu Churchill and other Kenyans in mourning the sudden demise of NIBS Technical College founder Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike.

Ms Wanyoike passed away at the age of 73 on January 14, 2023. 

The death announcement was made public by her family.

Several leaders and prominent figures among them Mwalimu Churchill, MP Kimani Ichumgwah, William Kabogo, and Moses Kuria have euglozed Liz Wanyoike.

Liz Wanyoike sadly passed on after battling cancer aged 73 years on 14th January 2024.

Quick Facts about Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike

She is a businesswoman, teacher, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is the founder and CEO of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS).

She rose from humble beginnings as a teacher earning Sh961 per month to become a symbol of achievement and a role model for all young girls, women, and society.

Ms. Wanyoike began her career in 1970, working as a teacher and principal at a city college. She was later hired by the government and assigned to State House Girls Nairobi as a teacher in 1972.

At the time, she earned a monthly salary of Ksh961.

Ms Wanyoike established NIBS in 1999 with Sh6 million and Sh4 million loans from Equity Bank Kenya.

She rented a facility and opened the institution with 25 students and two teachers.
