Tanzanian singer Joseph Mbilinyi aka Prof Jay is grateful for the gift of life having survived a serious illness to come out healthy.
He opened up about his tribulations on CloudsFmTz. He suffered cardiac arrest 3 times while admitted to hospital. On one occasion his heart had stopped for 45 minutes, as doctors frantically fought to resuscitate him.
Doctors called his family and friends to a crisis meeting. They had good news and bad news for them, according to Black Chatta, the Vice Chair of the Professor Jay Foundation.
Jay agreed saying it was horrifying. He stayed in the ICU for 127 days. "To find yourself admitted in ICU for 127 days is no joke. Nimeona mengi," he stated about being ill.
He has launched a foundation to raise funds for treatment because it cost him a lot of money that the Government paid for.
"Mwili nzima ulikuwa na wire," he said.
His lowest moment was when multiple catheters were inserted in his mouth, nose, and stomach.
"Mwili nzima ilikuwa na wire wire. Ile siku niliona pumzi imekata, na kama unavyoniskia madakatari ilinibidi wanitoboe ko. To remove that dirt that had clogged me, Kwasababu mapafu yalikuwa yamejaa uchafu. Hiyo yote ni mipangao ya mungu kwamba."
Prof Jay was hospitalized in January 2022, with the reason kept secret. The hip-hop star added that he was often horrified when other sick individuals
His medical bills were climbing to Sh4million per week.
