Nana Owiti, the wife of rapper King Kaka believes that a lot of marriage or relationship breakdowns are because couples do not communicate.

Speaking to SPM Buzz recently, the mother of two said,

"What I would say is that every marriage comes with what you can call a constitution, you know.  So every marriage is different I would not say what works for me, will work for you.

At the end of the day, it is about communication.  Not just communication, but comprehension. When you communicate to your partner, do they comprehend, do they understand what you are saying."

Over the past week, many celebrity couples have announced the end of their relationships. From Lupita Nyong'o, Weezdom, and murmurs about Amber Ray's relationship, Kenyans are alarmed at what is happening and questioning the need to be in relationships.

Some are even losing hope.  Nana also says that ego also plays a big role in battles in relationships.

"If we walk in chest-thumping, in situations, in marriage, in partnership maze it will get to a point of a limit," before adding,

"If we can understand one another. I always ask myself a question, if he did what I did to him, would I be okay?"

She continued to advise that marriage is a partnership and supporting each other even financially, "If you respect and understand your man, plus understand each other,  mtafika tu mahali mnaenda."

Nana and King have been 12 years in marital bliss. Family and marriage are two very important things to the couple and their fans love them for holding on strong.

Nana was speaking at an exclusive all-white listening party for the Kaka Empire CEO’s 2nd EP RhymebookYaNutcase.
