Kenyan rapper Lil Maina says he is yet to fully recover from the death of his grandfather. The two were loved by many thanks to their TikTok videos.

Maina was raised in Mombasa but moved to Nairobi in order to live with his grandparents which ultimately birthed his comic stunts.

In an interview on Tuko Extra, he shared that he is still dealing with his grandfather's death

"I am still coping with his death. I could not do skits after his death, I felt like something was missing. As the days go by am learning new things and healing."

Maina says despite shooting content in 2018, he only rose to fame in 2020.

"In 2018 I started doing skits and parodies. In 2020 people were at home because of COVID-19. I used to do videos with my grandparents just for fun and people started asking for more. I was raised by my grandparents because my parents were very young."

Maina took to his socials to announce the death of his grandfather early this year.

"I don't know what to say, babu, I will always have you in my heart. It is not the same without you, it will never be. The best grandfather to me and to everyone.

I will miss you so much. Thank you for making me who I am today. Thank you for the support, and thank you for raising me. I love you, babu. Till we meet again. I never wanted to post anything about this, but I thought it would be good for you guys to know,"  he emotionally penned.

The Kishash hit maker is currently in the US where he recently relocated to.
