Former television presenter Kimani Mbugua has opened up on why Kenyans might be having a problem with him asking for donations from them.
During an interview with comedian Oga Obinna this week, the former TV presenter explained how he had been suffering since losing his job in 2020.
He added that the fact that he had worked on Kenya's biggest TV station, many Kenyans distrusted him for posting his Instagram video asking for help.
"Working for television, it's not that you receive millions, what you get paid, you get, you get bigger roles."
The charismatic Kimani also went further to explain how his use of drugs had affected his work and led him to resign after realising the terrible condition he was in.
Mbugua touched on his current health condition saying that he had been getting medical help for one year something that had seen him lose some people who were close to him.
He also defended his move to unashamedly solicit help from the public saying,
"Already so far we have collected more money than I expected. And I wouldn't have got that money if I didn't talk about my problem."
Kimani revealed that the night after he posted the video he had gone through a lot as he didn't have fare to go home, so he had to sleep on the street.
The interview ended on a great note with Obinna commending Kimani for coming forward and referring to how many young Kenyan men were silently hiding their tragic situations.
The interview comes hot on the heels of the former TV host asking Kenyans for exactly Sh 200k so he could start a business.
