In modern-day society, most women do not submit and those who do are made to feel 'weird' about it.
Judy Nyawira, wife to content creator Abel Mutua has explained why she has continued being submissive despite being married for 15 years.
In an interview with Lynn Ngugi, Nyawira shared what submission means to her.
"There are times I have made more money than him, there are times he makes more, Submission is understanding that.
We have never fought about money. There is no 'my money' in our relationship. If I am in a position to do something I do it because I want to.
Understanding there are different seasons in marriage and that whatever happens he is the head is important."
Nyawira says that one should not assume because they are making more than the man, they are the head of the family.
"Even in the bible, we are helpers. If you are a good helper as a woman, the head will remain there and he will excel in life.
Submission is understanding he is the head of the house and I am a helper and I play that role well."
On the other hand, Abel stated that his wife Judy Nyawira is the driving force behind his success.
Mutua said in an interview with Lynn Ngugi that if it weren't for his wife, he would be a useless person.
Mkurugenzi praised his wife, adding she was essential in molding him into the man he is today.
“Judy is the fuel that propels me to greatness. And it’s not something she has started now, she has been that person since 2008 when we met.
Every situation we have been in has been a reason for me to grind even harder. Thanks to her. I keep on telling her that if it was not for her I would have amounted to nothing,” Mutua said in part.
