Police searched the residence of Uhuru's son Jomo in Karen for firearms.
An upset Uhuru swore to protect his family from any attacks.
Instead of going after his family, he dared the authorities to confront him head-on.
"The fact that I have been silent does not mean I am scared. Come for me if it is me that you want," Uhuru said.
"I did the best I could do for my country and I handed over when my time was finished and I will now do the best to defend my family."
The former president pleaded with the government to settle any political differences with him alone rather than involving his own family.
"My only plea is don't plan against my mother or my children. Plan for me if it is me you want. What do they have to do with anything," he said.
Uhuru said that many people in Kenya own valid gun licences and obtained their firearms legally.
CS Kithure Kindiki said 23 firearms were recovered from three homes in Karen, Nairobi, following an operation launched after establishing that weapons used during demos were supplied by civilian gun holders.
"Today afternoon, an operation has been going on targeting three homesteads within the Karen area where a total of 23 firearms, some of which are suspected to have been used in illegal activities are kept," he said at the time
