Tiktoker Brian Chira has been released on a cash bail of Ksh 50k with an alternative of a bond of Ksh 100k. He was arraigned at Kibera Law Courts on Monday morning over defamatory words towards fellow Tiktoker Azziad Nasenya.
Speaking to the press outside Kibera Law Court, Chira's lawyer Michael Masinde, said Chira was charged with offences under section 27 of computer misuse and cyber crime act.
He pleaded not guilty.
"He was arrested on Thursday at noon and was not presented at any court until today," said the lawyer
He added that Chira is fundraising to get the money.
"The client is fundraising at the moment, we are hopeful that he will manage to raise the cash bail."
Nasenya's lawyer told Mungai Eve last week that her client had been receiving calls from strangers as Chira had publicly displayed her personal phone number.
“Sometime last week Chira went live on TikTok at night and the Topic was Azziad he uttered some words which I cannot repeat here but those words are defamatory and he did not stop there he went ahead and gave out her number."
My client has for the past week been buzzed with a lot of calls and messages some of which are insults and she was not happy."
Since we have the computer misuse and cyber crime act she choose to take legal action."
