Popular YouTuber MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, has become the first person to reach 1 million followers on the newly launched Threads app.

The text-based conversation tool, designed as a competitor to Twitter, went live on July 5th, and it took MrBeast only a matter of hours to amass an impressive following.

Reaching the milestone at 2:42 p.m. (BST) / 9:42 a.m. (EST) on July 6th, MrBeast humorously acknowledged his record-breaking success with a tweet, playfully stating, "Shhhhh, don't let the Twitter police know I'm cheating on them."

While a few other accounts had already reached the million-follower mark, those belonged to organizations such as Instagram and National Geographic.

MrBeast's Threads bio boldly states "Future Threads CEO," and his popularity skyrocketed after just three posts on the app. His first post, shortly after the app's launch, playfully asked, "Soooooo, how long until we're also addicted to this app? Lol."

He also engaged his fans by inviting them to like a post if they believed Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta (formerly Facebook), should appoint him as Threads' CEO. MrBeast amusingly added, "I feel like I'm cheating on Twitter by using this app."

Threads, touted as a "friendly" alternative to Twitter, allows users to publish posts with links, photos, and videos, while others can engage by liking, replying, and sharing content.

The character limit for posts is set at 500, and the app offers easy integration with Instagram, allowing users to import their profile pictures and bios effortlessly. Additionally, users can automatically follow everyone they follow on Instagram with a single click.

Since its launch, Threads has attracted over 10 million users from the vast pool of 2 billion Instagram accounts.

Mark Zuckerberg, the second person to reach 1 million Threads followers, emphasized the importance of maintaining a friendly atmosphere for the app's expansion, aiming to differentiate it from Twitter's past struggles.
