• In Kenya people with a payslip have their deductions made automatically the salary hits the account.

There has been heated debate on how much tax one is supposed to give.

A tax refers to a compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers' income and business profits, or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions.

In Kenya, below are some of the deductions that people's payslips will undergo.

 

 

Total deductions in 2022 versus 2023

Gross Salary- Ksh 30,000

PAYE 1315 to 1095

NSSF 200 to 1080

NHIF 900 to 825

House Levy 0.00 to 9000 

TOTAL: 2415 to 3900

Gross Salary Ksh 100,000

PAYE- 22,069 to 21,804

NSSF 200 TO 1080

NHIF 1700 to 2750

Housing Levy 0.00 to 2500

TOTAL:23,969 to 28,134
