Wakimani: There is no demon-making Kenyan creatives broke

Wakimani was in the past accused of sacrificing a fellow comedian after he died in a road accident.

• JB Masanduku was once dumped by his Russian girlfriend after they used up 1 million he had.

Kenyan creatives Jaymo Ule Msee, Wakimani, and JB Masanduku have weighed on why most creatives are broke.

Giving his own experience JB Masanduku narrated how he spent Sh1.3 million in a few days.

Speaking while appearing in The Wicked Edition, JB said;

'I spent a million in 11 days.

I have no T-shirt or boxers to remind me of how I used that day.

At the time I was dating a Russian. We used to use taxis and try three-course meals.

After my money ended she told me she had to go back home as her mother was sick."

Adding

" After the Russian went back home, I got another gig of 1.3 million a few years later.

Immediately the cash got into my account, I immediately went to the airport. I did not even have luggage.

That was 2/3 years later. After 4 days I came back with 12K in my pockets. I had left my car packed at the airport and I couldn't afford to pay for it.

I had to call my sister."

Wakimani says at the time JB Masanduku was their role model.

"When I was employed at Nation in 2010, I was earning 150 K per month and getting gigs worth 100K every weekend.

At the time if I felt like going to Mombasa for lunch I would just book a flight.

Jaymo Ule Msee says the biggest mistake most people make is budgeting for cash they do not have.

"Creatives like being happy hence they end up overspending.

Most people live with a makanga mentality, they know tomorrow they will get some other cash. Most people put a pause on creativity when they get money.

When one goes broke is when one becomes creative again."

Wakimani says there is no demon attacking creatives and making them broke.

"It's not about uchawi/witchcraft, we found ourselves with talent but no one to mentor us.

We need a mentor to guide us on how to use finances."
