David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, a multi-award-winning Nigerian artiste, has revealed that he connected his father, Mr Adedeji Adeleke, with the President of the World Bank, David Malpass.

Davido said that he was able to connect his wealthy father with Malpass during a short meeting at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In an interview with the famous American journalist Big Boi, the 'Fall' singer revealed that his father has been trying to meet with the president of the World Bank for some time but he was not lucky enough to achieve that.

The artist said that after the World Cup closing ceremony, he met Malpass at his hotel, and the economic analyst praised the way Davido captured the stage for his performance which surprised many.

He claimed that immediately after greeting each other and Malpass introducing himself, he contacted his father and told him that he was meeting with the President of the global bank.

When he said that, his father asked him to call Malpass, and that's how they were connected.

Davido said; "My father has many friends in high places and he has been trying to find the president of the world bank.

He has been trying to get to that president and that president was at the world cup. He saw me at the hotel and said, 'Davido, I enjoyed your performance, I am the president of the World Bank The world.'"

I said; "Hold on, 'hello father, I have the president of the world bank,' and he said; 'Give him the phone.'"

His performance at the closing ceremony of the world cup last December was his first public appearance after being away from the camera for more than a month following the sudden death of his only son, Ifeanyi.

It is reported that Davido was scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the world cup campaign but his son died a few days before the event, which made him cancel all the activities he was scheduled to do in November and December.

The artist is however back with a bang as he released his 17-track album, Timeless which is getting rave reviews.
