Bungoma-based preacher Eliud Wekesa, popularly known as Yesu wa Tongaren, on Friday broke into an end-time song after the court ordered that he be detained.

The preacher sang a Christian song that tells of how every human being will carry their cross and give their witness before God.

While the song refers to the day of judgment, Wekesa depicted that the day has come and the prophecy is being fulfilled.

"Kila mtu atauchukuwa mzigo wake mwenyewe, na kila mtu atatoa habari zake mwenywe mbele zake mungu siku hii imefika, imefika maana 'yesu' yumo duniani," Wekesa sang.

He broke into the song moments after the Bungoma court directed he be detained for four more days.

On Thursday, after he was summoned by Bungoma police, Wekesa said that he had committed no crimes and insisted that he was a man of God and on a mission from God.

"I have come to the police station because the OCS told me the county commander wants to talk with me and I said that I will honour, that and today I'm here," he said on Thursday.

Bungoma Principal Magistrate Tom Olando granted the prosecution side four days to complete the investigations at the suspect’s place and carry out a mental assessment.

“The court has agreed and granted permission to the prosecution side to detain the suspect for four more days to allow them to complete the probe and carry out the mental assessment,” Olando said.
