Police are looking for a gang that attacked a woman, robbed and raped her in an avocado plantation in the Molem area, Murangá county.
The woman was attacked on Monday night as she and a relative escorted visitors who had come to mourn with her over the death of her husband.
The thugs tied the woman and male relative to an avocado tree and escaped.
She told police the gang was dressed in jungle uniform when they pulled their Salon car and ordered the two to board at gunpoint.
They then drove towards Kenol-Kaharati Road where the driver lost control of the car and veered off the road landing in a ditch.
Still determined with their mission, according to the woman, the gang ordered them off the car and led them to a nearby avocado plantation where they robbed them of their two mobile phones and transferred Sh60,000 that was in the woman’s cellphone.
It was then that one of the thugs raped the woman and later tied the two to an avocado tree using ropes and escaped to an unknown location.
Police were alerted and visited the scene and took the victim to the hospital where she is admitted.
Police said no arrest has been made so far and that a hunt for the gang is ongoing.
Cases of rape have been on the rise in the country despite stringent laws governing the same.
Police said some of the cases have been solved while others remain under probe.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which a 43-year-old man was killed after being accused of infidelity in Githurai, Nairobi.
Before dying, Peter Wambugu told police and residents that he was attacked by unknown people after he was found in someone’s house while half naked.
He was then dragged to the scene where his body was found with deep cuts on the legs and head.
The body was moved to the City Mortuary pending autopsy as the hunt on the attackers goes on, police said.
No arrest has been made so far but police said they are looking for the group behind the incident.
