Kenyan content creator Gertrude Awino Njeri Juma alias Miss Trudy has landed in trouble with a section of Kenyans On Twitter (KOT) over an alleged arrested ordeal at the Mombasa Airport.

On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Trudy was trending at Number One on Twitter following the virality of her video at the said airport.

Trudy narrated that officers at the Mombasa airport allegedly arrested her for filming (creating content) at the airport.

"Guys we are being harassed at the airport, I'm just creating content, and this is Kenya, content creators have the right to create content, this is 2023, and they have even brought a police to arrest me," she said.

However, KOT swiftly joined the conversation accusing the travel Vlogger of being ignorance about what the law says when it comes to shooting videos or taking photos at the airport.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Security Regulations 2020 59 (1-c) states that a person who engages in operating a portable electronic device is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding Sh500,000 or imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both.

The regulation further states that a person who commits an offence, if he refuses to comply with a lawful order issued by the airport operator, on behalf of the Authority, has the purpose of maintaining good order and discipline at the airport.

The police in the matter of Miss Trudy had the right within the law, to arrest the vlogger and her team for filming without any authorisation by writing to the manager of the airport.

Further, airports are among the government facilities designated as protected areas/controlled security zones, something that the vlogger overlooked.
