Back in 2017, a young and vibrant entrepreneur entered the Kenyan fashion industry ready to conquer and established a brand that will always be on the lips of her clients and potential clients across the world.

The arrival of this entrepreneur signaled a revolution in the Scarf and Turban/Hijab Industry in Kenya.

Nizar alias Kudra N Mohammed went into the books of history as the first Kenyan entrepreneur to launch branded scarfs in East and Central Africa and the first Hijab brand in Kenya.

Since then, she has continued to expand, and rubber stamp her name in the fashion industry as far as branded scarfs and Turbans are concerned.

She has worked with and styled the likes of Citizen TV’s Jamila Mohamed, BBC's Fathiya Mohammed, YouTuber Joy Kendi, Kamene Goro among others including famous influencers in Kenya.

She has also been featured on BBC, Switch TV, and several newspapers such as Sunday Nation, and Daily Nation among others.

Today, we shine the spotlight on Kudra Nizar who has expanded her business by establishing her clothesline under her already thriving business Nizarsline Empire.

“Nizarsline we are the first branded scarf line in East and Central Africa. We pioneer in taking the scarf business to a new level that had not been explored in Kenya.

“We originally started as a scarf brand before now venturing into the clothes business towards the end of last year but in 2023 is when we officially launched our cloth collection,” Nizar narrates.

The young CEO divulged that her cloth collection is out to reinvent and give a fresh touch to everyone’s closet - if you are shopping with her.  

“Our goal is to re-invent one’s closet as we are here to offer all types of clothes you need in your wardrobe. From official to semi-casual, events attires, and wedding attires among others,”.

Nizar says that she wants to make her clients stand out and be noticed in any given crowd – as she is offering nothing short of fancy, quality, and unique.

“Our goal is to always provide you with unique-high quality pieces that will make you stand out in any crowd. Our pieces are very limited as we don’t produce bulkily because we want our customers to feel special and well taken care of,”.

Asked about the types of clothes she has stocked at her physical shop at Applewood along Ngong Road, Nizar said.

“We have clothes, scarfs – silk square scarfs, high-quality Muslim hijabs that won’t fade or wear out easily”.

Nizar acknowledged that her high-quality products have made it easy for her to expand her business to international markets.

“We have pioneered the business and grown into international markets because we don’t compromise on quality scarfs and Hijabs. We have managed to be in business for the past five years running the business correctly. This is something that has also paved way for us to venture into the clothes business delivering high quality, lots of variety, and unique pieces.”

According to the ever-ambitious Young CEO, some of the designs found in her shop are locally designed while others are sourced from world-renowned designers who understand her customer needs.

“We do customize some of our designs and patterns and we do outsource from suppliers who understand our strongholds.

“We have expanded our store and now we are located at Applewood store G-12 along Ngong Road –opposite Adams Arcade," Nizar explained.  

During our interview, we sought to find out who the target customers for Nizarsline, and the CEO stated that;

“Our target customers are anyone who values high-quality products, great service, and uniqueness.”

For the past five years, Nizarsline has banked on customer feedback to always better and improve their customer service – hence retaining and even attracting new clients.

“We offer top-notch customer service – something that has kept us going over the years.

“For the longest time our customer has been the high-end woman who appreciates fashion but with the expansion- we have something for everyone,” she says.
