Azimio leader Raila Odinga has dismissed claims he met with President William Ruto in person over a truce.

Speaking on Tuesday, Raila said representatives from Azimio and Kenya Kwanza met to negotiate.

"There have been allegations that I met Ruto, nothing could be further from the truth, there was no meeting between me and Ruto," Raila said.

He, however, said that the request for dialogue was from Kenya Kwanza and they responded.

Raila said that some MPs will be sent to negotiate on behalf of Azimio.

The opposition chief has maintained if Ruto fails to honour their requests, Azimio will go back to demonstrations.

Raila called off countrywide demonstrations on Sunday after an appeal from the President.

The President said that he is willing to engage the opposition on a bi-partisan approach to find solutions.

The move was welcomed by both international and local leaders in the country citing statesmanship from both parties.

Ruto said he has always been ready to engage political and religious leaders.

"Considering the matters raised on this particular subject, I suggest a bi-partisan engagement in Parliament on the reconstitution of the IEBC panel within the parameters of the law and the constitution," Ruto said.

On Monday, Ruto met with Parliament leaders to establish a framework for the bipartisan strategy.

He said issues shall be handled by Parliament to allow the executive to focus on development programmes.
