Maxine Wahome, the rally driver charged with the murder of her boyfriend Asad Khan, had lived with him for 18 months.
However, their love affair started three years ago. After Asad's death in December last year, the family of Maxine and that of her boyfriend have now become the worst enemies.
Asad died from injuries he sustained after a fight with Maxine at their house in Kileleshwa.
Maxine has been charged with murder following his death. Asad's family has opposed Maxine's application to be released on bail.
In a pre-bail report filed in court, Khan’s brother Adil Khan has told court that the two families are now worst enemies.
Adil expressed the pain they have endured as a family due to the death of his brother. Both Maxine and Asad Khan were celebrity rally drivers.
“Everything happened so fast, unexpectedly. One moment the two families are all happy and celebrating in a rally and the next they are worst of enemies,” the report reads.
It was also established that Maxine and Asad families are well known to each other due to their love for motorsport.
“They(families) were aware of the love relationship between the accused and deceased,” the report reads.
According to the report, Maxine had been in a relationship with the deceased for three years and had been staying together at the deceased’s rented apartment at Oloitokitok road in Kileleshwa for one year and six months.
The report further says that Asad was married and divorced with two adult children who live in Bahrain and they maintained less contact as the divorce happened many years back when the children were very young.
“The children only sent message of condolence and have never been in touch since,” report reads.
Adil also said that the family’s resources were adversely strained in footing the hospital bills incurred to a point they had to dispose of some assets so as to add onto the amount well-wishers and extended family had contributed.
He said that after the burial of his brother, he could not let his son go back to Mauritius for his studies as he felt he was alone, so the son has now terminated his studies and is being trained to assist in running of the family garage.
Adil has also denied claims by Maxine that he used to take her sponsorship money alongside his brother, Asad.
Through his lawyer, Adil told Justice Lilian Mutende that the claims by Maxine's lawyer Phillip Murgor that he took her sponsorship money were all lies.
He said he was also concerned about his reputation because of the false allegations being covered extensively by the media.
Adil clarified that indeed Maxine owed Sh2.5 million, which was money used to repair her rally car and he has receipts to prove that.
However, in response, Murgor said he stands by the instructions given to him by Maxine which was that Adil and Asad took all her sponsorship money.
The lawyer insisted that indeed the two brothers took all her money that she earned from being a rally driver.
The court will deliver bail ruling on Wednesday this week.
