In the last 3 months, there has been an increased number of sudden and untimely deaths. Most of these are described as homicides and suicides.

While there have been more deaths, these caught Kenyans by surprise because of their nature.

1. Jeff Mwathi

Jeff Mwathi lost his life after he fell off the building. He and Mugithi artist Fatxo had gone out before they went back to the artist's house.

His body was later discovered at the bottom of the building. The people he was with alleged he committed suicide something that the police have refuted.

It was initially reported he died by suicide in the February 22 incident. His body is to be exhumed after investigations poked holes into how he died.

2. Pastor Veronicah

Pastor Elizabeth Wanjiru died mysteriously inside the house of gospel artiste Dishon Mirugi.

A post-mortem exercise conducted at Kenyatta memorial funeral home revealed that Wanjiru died as a result of pressure to the neck. It is alleged she had gone to collect 700K the man of God owed her.

According to a statement recorded at Kiamumbi police station on Saturday, Dishon unhung the body of Veronicah before driving to the Jacaranda Maternity Home.

Medics at Jacaranda refused to pick up Elizabeth's body because she was already dead.

3. Joseph Kubende

Bungoma political mobiliser  Joseph Kubende is the recent victim to die mysteriously. He died after a fall from the fourth floor of an apartment in Roysambu area, Nairobi.

Police and other witnesses said Kubende, 42, was alone at the time of his fall on Thursday evening and had landed on his head becoming unconscious.

He was rushed to Jesse Kay Hospital on Lumumba Drive before he was referred to Radiant Hospital in Pangani where he succumbed.

4. Blair Muthomi 

In early March, 23-year-old Blair Muthomi died after falling from a building in Kasarani under unclear circumstances.

A foreman at an adjacent building said he found the body when he opened the site for the construction workers.

5. Brenda Kawira

On Tuesday, February 21, Brenda Kawira allegedly jumped to her death in Kasarani.

Kawira graduated in 2021 with first-class honours from the University of Nairobi, where she was pursuing a degree in medical biochemistry, specializing in becoming a geneticist.

Her family has however denied claims their daughter committed suicide. This was after they were given contradicting information regarding their daughter's death.

6. Edwin Chiloba

The gay fashion model was found dead and his body decomposing inside a metal box at Kipkenyo, Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County in January 2023.

The box was dropped by a number plate-less car at noon during the New Year festivities. Edwin was a talented designer and a student leader.

His alleged lover and BFF Jacktone Odhiambo is a prime suspect in the murder.
