Catherine Kasavuli will be laid to rest at Zululu village in Vihiga county on January 14th, 2023.
According to her family, a funds drive will be held on January 7, to help in offsetting a KSh 4 million medical bill and funeral plans.
The prominent news anchor died on Friday, December 30, 2022, after a battle with cervical cancer.
A requiem mass in memory of the celebrated news anchor will be held at the Friends' International Centre along Ngong road on January 12.
Through the late TV superstar's social media pages, Martin, the son of the late journalist thanked her fans for their immense support.
He wrote;
"Good morning. We thank each one of you for standing with Catherine and for your words of encouragement. We'd like to appeal for your help in offsetting the Ksh 4 million incurred during her treatment at KNH and Nairobi Hospital. Your help will be highly appreciated. Love and light."
The late TV presenter began her career in the late 1980s at the tender age of 18.
Kasavuli started out her career as a radio continuity announcer in 1980 at the Voice of Kenya, which was renamed KBC in later years.
She later joined the world of TV broadcasts in 1985. The late mom of one had no prior professional training and two years into her job, she went to the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
In March 1990, Catherine became part of the founding team of KTN as the first privately owned television station in the country.
She became the station's first anchor to do a live broadcast, a shift from the previous pre-recorded format.
Other than being a TV presenter, Kasavuli would voice commercials to supplement her earnings. She was the first female news anchor in the country.
Her first salary was sh1,500.
