Cops are investigating an incident in which a minor was defiled before being murdered in a village in Kikuyu area, Kiambu County.

The mother of the child told police the incident happened on December 1 while she was busy in her house.

She said she was attending to house chores and had left her 10-year-old girl playing outside their house with a rope.

And when she went out a few minutes later she found her strangled with the same rope she was playing with behind the house.

She had tried to call her in vain. She raised alarm and locals responded before rushing her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The woman wanted to bury the deceased and later went to seek for burial permit at the local chief’s camp where she was directed to report the matter to the police.

It was then that a postmortem was conducted days later and established the minor was defiled before being strangled.

The exercise was conducted on Wednesday at a hospital in Kikuyu, which prompted the new probe of murder and defilement.

The motive of the incident and those behind are yet to be known but a team of detectives is investigating the matter.

Kiambu police boss Perminus Kioi said they are investigating the incident.

He said they are waiting for further results from the Government Chemists to help in getting those behind the incident.

The police boss advised that all incidents that happen at home be reported to authorities for investigation and action.

Elsewhere in the Kidfamaco area in Kikuyu, a body of a male adult was found hanging on a tree.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known. The body was removed from the tree on Wednesday evening and taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy and identification.

The incident adds to many suicide incidents that have been reported in the area amid calls to address the trend.
