A pay bill number to help Catherine Kasavuli undergo a blood transfusion has been shared with the public.

The pay bill 8089700 is a way of standing with the Newscaster. The media veteran is hospitalized at the KNH Private Wing after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. She urgently needs blood.

Kasavuli has been admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital's private wing since October 26, 2022. A colleague at KBC informed Kenyans of her situation;

“Dear friends, colleagues, and well-wishers. Our dear colleague Catherine Kasavuli is hospitalized at the KNH Private Wing after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. For those who can, she needs a blood transfusion urgently. Your prayers and moral support will be very welcome.”

On November 10, she told about her journey with the medical condition while thanking Kenyans for their support.

"Last month has been crazy I want to take this moment and appreciate my family colleagues and doctors and the Catherine Kasavuli foundation, my doctors, friends, strangers, and online community. I wish I could respond to all your messages, I see them and I am really humbled. May god remember you," she wrote.

Cervical cancer ranks as the 2nd most frequent cancer among women in Kenya and the 2nd most frequent cancer among women between 15 and. 44 years of age.

According to World Health Organization almost all cervical cancer cases (99%) are linked to infection with high-risk Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), an extremely common virus transmitted through sexual contact. Although most infections with HPV resolve spontaneously and cause no symptoms, persistent infection can cause cervical cancer in women.

To tackle cervical cancer effectively, WHO outlines that screening programs have a vital role in cervical cancer prevention allowing for early detection and treatment.
