Miss Argentina 2020, Mariana Varela, and Miss Puerto Rico 2020, Fabiola Valentin, have announced to the world that they got married last month after having kept their relationship private.

The couple have on their social media been posting pictures hanging out together, but did not provide a clue that their relationship was deeper than friends. 

In a joint Instagram post, the newlyweds  said: "After deciding to keep our relationship private, we opened the doors to them on a special day 28/10/22."

The 30-second video post they shared of their surprise announcement included videos and pictures of the couple traveling together, as well as their marriage proposal and rings.

After posting the announcement, their fellow beauty queens plus mutual friends shared their support and congratulatory messages to the two beauty queens.

One mutual friend Abena Appiah, who won the Miss Grand International beauty pageant in 2020, commented that the couple had met while competing in the pageant.

The couple, felt it was for their own good that they keep things secret after their first meeting competing at the Miss Grand International 2020.

Valentín, who had previously been in the Top 3 for the 2019 Miss Universe Puerto Rico competition, was selected to the Top 10 of Miss Grand International 2020. Varela also made it into the Top 10 that year.

The couple each represented their countries in the Miss Grand International competition. "Congratulations to both of you. MGIO always support “LOVE” without boundaries," the organization wrote on Instagram.

On her Instagram stories, Valentín shared a message in response to the positive reactions to her post saying, "How nice it is to read each message. Thank you all for your words and good wishes."
