Comedian Dj Shiti almost died after a case of mistaken identity

 The real-life story f comedian Dj Shiti is one for the books.

In a new interview with media influencer Mwende Macharia in her podcast EMM Online TV, Shiti said he doesn't take it for granted 

"before I became famous, nilipita process that molded me. It shaped me so much."

Steven Odour Ndede aka Shiti first humble beginning in Nakuru with his stand-up comedy. 

He is born to a Luhyia mother, a fish trader, and a Luo father, a taxi driver. His comedy journey was difficult and he experienced many rejections and unsuccessful attempts along the way. 

During his first comedy stint he earned a thousand bob. Shiti lost this money to a con man in a very silly way as he described to Mwende.

'By the way, I have never spoken about this story, yani ku coniwa inachanganya na ujinga"

He went to River Road to get a bus back to Nakuru to celebrate earning money. He met a con man who convinced him it was too late to leave Nairobi.

The conman tricked Shiti to pay for food and drinks plus accommodation before they go to get a bus the next morning.

The conman cheated Shiti that they could stay at his place in Ngumo instead of paying for a hotel. 

He was taken to a pub where the conman ate and drank Shiti's money.

 "ile thao kidogo akaagiza chips omwami si hii pesa utaimaliza?" 

They then went to Ngumo, and on the way, the conman stopped to buy weed in a dangerous section.

A worried Dj Shiti "akaenda mahalai ambayo wajackoya inanunuliwa. Na si wajackoyah inanunuliwa hapo. bado ni place waizi huchomewa yani he left me here. Its a place where thieves are beaten . He told me he was going to buy medicine, so I wait for him there"

The con man didn't return. People kept looking at Sj Shiti and became suspicious of him. An angry crowd gathered around him, threatening o set him alight with a tire.

"kidogo watu washaa nizunguka, tire ndio hiyo, I didn't understand what was happening"

Luck however was on his side. He was rescued after begging for mercy and explaining his situation.

 The scary incident has lived on his mind for this long.

The former Real House helps of Kawangware actor laughed at his experience.
